Carl Rakosi on (today's) politics. . .



    Men who are not in danger during a war remain ideological.  That’s why wars drag on.

    When the Administration takes a moral tone, run for the hills.  You will not be able to resist the general expectation that you lay down your life for words, like supreme importance.

    The conscience is unaware that human nature does not behave like words, with rhetorical magnitude.

    Ideals are absolutes.  If you fall in love with them, you have to exaggerate and become a romantic autocrat. That’s what happened to the liberal.
